WHO ARE WE
We started as a small family operation producing garlic
and onion free products for alum allergic family
members as well as use up seasonal excesses from our
small holding. Word spread and we had a number of
allergy affected customers purchasing our products.
Low volume Chocolate production started a few months
later. As we shared more of our produce many came
back to purchase more and interest in our products has
spread via word of mouth, social media, and influencer
recommendations across the globe. As sales grew in
our chocolates bbchocolatecom was formed to focus
on delivering our high quality hand crafted treats
Why BB?? The name either came from the process of
producing chocolate from Cocoa Beans thru to
moulding Chocolate Bars, AKA Bean to Bar. Or from our
late bad tempered German Shepherd Ben who had a
habit of Biting things, Ben Bites!! You can chose the
one you think is right……
OUR PRODUCTION FACILITY
Our dedicated Micro factory based in central Scotland
has been designed to have a minimal impact on the
environment. The close to carbon neutral facility boasts
biomass heating, solar panel hot water heating and
solar PV to provide electricity.
OUR DISTRIBUTION
BBchocolate products are available by special order for
weddings, birthdays, or as promotional items or from
our online shop for seasonal boxes and single flavored
packs. Supplies are limited based on production
capacity and flavors are the inspiration of our
chocolatier. We are always happy to speak about our
chocolates and how we can help you with special
requirements. Feel free to get in touch.
ALLERGY INFORMATION
Allergy to Garlic within our family was the start of our
journey and triggered the start of BBchocolates.
Although chocolates usually don’t contain Garlic as an
unrecognised allergen it and members of the allium
family are a constant challenge for our family. It’s
made the whole topic of allergens something we
professionally put a lot of focus on and like all food
businesses in the UK we are legally obliged to do so!
Gluten: [G] We mark our chocolates if they have
Gluten however as our factory is small there is always
a risk of cross contamination. If you have a gluten
intolerance please let us know when you order
chocolates
Dairy: [D] Dairy appears in many of our chocolates in
the form of cream or milk but also already in the
chocolate we use. Its a fundamental ingredient in our
recipes so difficult to remove. However some of our
dark chocolate is dairy free as are a number of our
fillings. Let us know when you order chocolates and we
will work to support your needs. As with gluten there is
always some risk of cross contamination
Nuts, Peanuts: [N,P] Unfortunately, due to the
compact nature of our micro factory we cannot make
100% nut free products. We do work to minimise cross
over contamination however there is always a risk. For
large orders we can consider a full clean down, contact
us if this is something we can help you with.
Soya: [So] Our chocolates do contain soya, not in
huge quantities, however enough that we must declare
it.
Eggs: [E] We have yet to use raw eggs in our factory,
however we do use ingredients that include eggs in
there preparation so when appropriate we declare
them.
Sesame Seeds: [Se] Not on our ingredients list YET…
but we love to try new things.
Sulphites: [Sd] Or Sulphur Dioxide, Many of the dried
fruits we use have been processed using Sulphites. If
you do have a reaction then again please let us know
and we will support your needs.
Lupin: [L] We don’t use it as a primary ingredient but
are always aware that it may be in something we use.
Mustard: [Mu] As with Lupin it’s not a primary
ingredient but are always aware that it may be in
something we use.
Celery, Crustaceans and Molluscs : [Ce,Cr,M] We
really don’t think they mix with chocolate so don’t
expect to see them flagged on any of our products, As
with all allergens if we do then we will tell you !
Garlic: [Ga] Not yet a recognised allergen and we
definitely don’t use it… But as you may have already
noted we do have family members and friends affected
by it so are very aware that we are all different and
could be affected by a non recognised allergen. If you
do have an allergy then tell us so we can try work with
you.
Alcohol: [A] Again not an allergen but feel its
important to declare it on our flavour guides.
Finally: If your in doubt please contact us.
